Tanglewood and Briargrove

Houston is a vibrant, livable city with the best to offer in arts, culture, and recreation. It features a thriving economy which feeds off the number of large companies making their home here as well as the busy traffic at the Port of Houston on the Gulf of Mexico. Of the many great things that Houston has to offer, Tanglewood and Briargrove are set up with easy access to all. The location is considered ideal not just because of the serene setting, but because it manages to stay serene so close to everything else in Houston.

Tanglewood opened in the summer of 1949 and was named for the book Tanglewood Tales, by Nathaniel Hawthorne. The developer came from a part of the country with hills, so he curved the streets and landscaped to create interest. Big lots, typically 1/4-acre to 3/4-acre, are in keeping with his plan for an upscale community. Residents often stroll along the trail at the Tanglewood Boulevard median, which is lined with live oaks and crape myrtles. Tanglewood has always been an extremely popular area because of its location in the heart of Galleria area, close to downtown and surrounded in part by Houston Country Club. Homes in Tanglewood and the surrounding area have become increasingly sought after in recent years as Houston's luxury housing market expands.

Today, the area is remarkably convenient to the Uptown Houston/Galleria area’s marvelous amenities. Oak-arched esplanades typify this carefully planned and well-established area, where neighborhoods are equal parts casual and cosmopolitan. Briargrove and Tanglewood also host educational opportunities, both public and private, and many nearby churches. Within a bike ride is a family-oriented YMCA, plus any number of multi-sport city parks. Houston Country Club offers exceptional members-only golf and tennis and Houston Racquet Club offers tennis, while just to the east, Memorial Park boasts a fine public course and courts.

Briargrove Park is another nearby enclave known as a neighborhood centered on family values where the homes have room for neighborhood get-togethers. Briargrove Park prides itself on its well-tended lawns and a warm welcome to newcomers. Conveniently located near the corporate office parks of the Energy Corridor, Briar Forest is another address worth considering.
